2021 Housing Market: Looking Back

2021 Housing Market: Looking Back

What a year! The 2021 housing market saw sales prices reach new heights, inventory decrease at unprecedented levels, and homes sell quickly (and above the asking price!).

YTD Median Sales Price increased 17.9%

YTD Days on Market decreased 44.7%

Monthly supply of inventory decreased 30.0%

YTD Volume of Closed Sales increased 11.1%

“The 2021 housing market was one for the history books. After three consecutive months of increases recently, existing home sales are on pace to hit their highest level in 15 years, with an estimated 6 million homes sold in 2021.” – National Association of REALTORS®.

With our townhomes and bluegill units sold out, Meredith Bay saw a significant increase in interest for single-family homes and homesites! We currently have five spec homes, with one expected to be move-in-ready this year and two already under agreement. You can follow the construction of these stunning lake homes here.  Or you can always build your own custom home on the lake with a variety of different homesites, just pick your favorite one and we’ll make your dream lake home come to life.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2022

The trends of the 2021 housing market are expected to continue into 20222 with strong buyer demand and inventory shortages. Home sales will continue to remain strong but will be affected by limited supply, higher sales prices, and rising interest rates.

“We expect low inventory for lake access homes to drive the new home market to the forefront.  Lot availability in a development such as Meredith Bay will become more desirable for those looking to build now or in the future.” – Mike Robichaud, Director of Business Development, Meredith Bay
