Follow the Construction: Homesite 40
Welcome to our From the Ground Up series, where we will document each step in the construction process so you can see our beautiful lake homes come to life! We’re starting with our Ganzey on Homesite 40.
LANDSCAPING
DECEMBER 15, 2020
It seems we are always, in one form or another, working on the landscaping. Filling in around the foundation, putting down sod for grass and plantings, putting in pavers for the sidewalk, paving the driveway, granite for the entry steps. It’s a long list, but as the pictures show it’s worth it!
FINISH WORK
DECEMBER 5, 2020
We’ve been seeing a lot of construction progress these last few days! Here’s what’s been happening:
The trim is almost finished, which includes crown molding, trimming out the windows and doors, and adding the balusters and railings on the stairs.
The stone around the gas fireplace has also been installed along with the mantel.
The tile has been laid on the bathroom floors and the tile shower in the master bedroom is complete, except for plumbing fixtures.
The hardwood flooring has been installed. The rich tones of the flooring have been chosen by our Interior Designer, and will be duplicated in the railings and the steps in the stairway.
UP NEXT: The next step in the construction process is installing the appliances and then we’ll start the interior painting!
CABINETRY INSTALLED
DECEMBER 2, 2020
Construction continues! Cabinets have been installed in the kitchen and bathrooms.
WALLBOARD UP
OCTOBER 28, 2020
The entire home has been sheetrocked, taped, and mudded to form a seamless wall. Now, the furnace is heated up to ensure the ‘mud’ used dries uniformly.
DECK INSTALLATION
OCTOBER 22, 2020
We are installing the deck! The back of this home is very private, making it perfect for an extensive deck overlooking the lake. The deck is right off the kitchen and will be large enough for grilling, sunning, and relaxing.
SIDING
OCTOBER 15, 2020
The home is almost 100% weather tight. The siding, which consists of clapboards and shakes, is just getting finished. Like the green in all of our roofs, the exterior look of the homes has a natural-born element. Colors from the landscape, along with the rich look of timbers and stone are a must for the homes at Meredith Bay.
Did you know we dip our cedar shakes? Each board is dipped into stain so each side is covered making them less likely to shrink and cup. It’s labor-intensive, but worth the outcome!
ROOF
SEPTEMBER 10, 2020
This Ganzey model on Homesite 40 is really starting to come together. The best part? There’s still time to make selections and customize the home to fit your preferences and style.
All the homes at Meredith Bay have one thing in common – green roofs! Being in one of the most beautiful areas of the world, we endeavor to have the architecture compliment the surroundings and blend as seamlessly as possible.
EXTERIOR FRAMING
AUGUST 29, 2020
Did you know, during construction each floor as it is built is called a “deck”? A flat surface workers are able to put weight on in order to build up to the next “deck”. The term is a generalization of decks as found on ships.
Our Ganzey model is the only model in our portfolio that has a breezeway attaching the garage to the mudroom entry. Depending on the lot, the breezeway can be long, or as in this home, a short walk into the home.
We’re setting the walls — stay tuned for more on the progress of this beautiful home!
